In order to generate the 3D files , you will need the pcbfactory scripts.
These are not freeware and will require registration in the Download menu.
When the odb++ folder has been generated, you can copy the downloaded
“pcbFactory” folder within the newly generated odb++ folder :
Your odb++ folder should then look like :
First , ensure that the paths to the slic3r.exe tool and path to openscad.exe Tools are correctly configured in the
pcbfactory\parameters.inc file.
To generate the 3D files and the associated Gcode files, you simply need to :
-
Double click on the pcbfactory\generate3Dfiles.vbs file, wait for the popup stating that
“3D files have been generated”
-
Doubleclick on the pcbfactory\“generategcode.vbs” file , wait for the popup stating that “gcode files have been generated”
Please note that if your design is complex, this phase can take a long time.
The script has now generated the necessary files into the
Pcbfactory\output folder , ordered by type of generated files :
1_Calibration : contains the files to calibrate each tool
2_CutMark : not used, reserved for future improvements
3_Supports : contains the 3D files to print the support that will hold the pcb during the process
4_Etch-Coating : contains the files that are needed to follow the process of drawing with a etch resit pen on the copper, then etch the pcb with perchlorure.
5_Etch-Scratching : contains the files needed to follow the process of covering all the copper with etch resist pen, then scratch the perimeter of each pcb trace with a needle. Then etch the pcb with perchlorure is needed.
7_ Drilling : contains the files to follow the process of drilling the pcb, using a mounted drilling tool on the prusa.
8_SolderPasteDispensing : contains the files needed to generate a 3D printed solder paste stencil , and the 3D files to put solder paste using the solder paste tool . ( based on step motor). ( this last point is not fully operational yet).
9_picjnplace : this is not yet done at all, I have only managed a proof of concept showing what I can achieve with this topic. This will onl y be done in a far future, as there is a lot of work there.
10_Mockup : this folder contains a 3D view of the design spark design .Note that this is a ultra simple 3D view. The objective here is to have a mockup that can be inserted into a 3D model of a device box, to verify that the pcb will fit exactly in the box, and that the fixation holes will match. Do not expect anything sexy there.
